Hyderabad: Dept. of Civil Supplies in collaboration with Cyberabad Police has decided to install CCTV cameras on ration shops and retail markets so that illicit sale of rice and other articles meant for poor persons could be checked. This was disclosed by Commissioner of Civil Supplies, Rajath Kumar during a meeting held with the police officials of Cyberabad Police. This step is being taken to curb the practice of selling the food grains meant for poor people at higher prices. GPS gadgets are also being installed on the vehicles carrying food grains for public distribution system. It is hoped that the Departments of Police and Civil Supplies would coordinate to ensure that the food grains reach the needy.
