CCTV cameras to be installed in 22 districts of JK

Jammu, September 06: Jammu and Kashmir police have decided to install CCTV cameras in all the 22 districts to strengthen security and check militant activities in the state. “Police have decided to install CCTV cameras in all the 22 districts of the state to keep a tab on the movement of suspected persons and militants,” police officials told PTI. A survey has been conducted and sensitive and vital places identified for installation of the cameras at the earliest.

Tender notice was recently issued for procuring and commissioning of the surveillance gadgets. CCTV cameras have already been installed along the route to Vaishnodevi cave shrine, Raghunath temple complex and Jammu Railway station in view of militant threat.

Some of the CCTV cameras that were installed in Srinagar and Jammu two years back will also be replaced, the officials said. “First time night vision infra-red cameras would be installed in the state,” they said.
