New Delhi, August 18: The Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) today discussed some of the issues which are to come up during Nepal Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal’s talks with Indian leaders and upgradation of logistics for CRPF engaged in counter-insurgency operations in the country.
The meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, was attended by Home Minister P Chidambaram and External Affairs Minister S M Krishna.
Sources said the meeting discussed the on-going visit of the Nepalese Prime Minister who is going to hold delegation-level talks with Singh during his five-day visit here. The agenda for the Indo-Nepal talks was also discussed during the CCS.
Among other issues, review of Indo-Nepal 1950 Friendship Treaty, extradition treaty, security and the peace process in Nepal are expected to figure in the talks between Nepalese Prime Minister and the Indian leadership.
The meeting also deliberated on the issue of upgradation of the infrastructure facilities for CRPF, involved in counter-insurgency operations in various parts of the country, better logistics, equipment and arms for the paramilitary force.
