New Delhi, Oct.26 : Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju on Monday said that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which is the nodal agency of Interpol in India, will take gangster Chhota Rajan’s investigation forward.
“There is a close coordination between India, Australia and Indonesia in this matter. CBI is the nodal agency for Interpol in India. Now the further process will be taken forward by CBI,” Rijiju told the media here.
Rajan was arrested from a resort in Bali by Indonesian Police on Sunday.
The Indonesian authorities detained Rajan acting on a tip-off from the Australian Police on Sunday as he arrived in the popular resort island of Bali from Sydney.
Rajan, a former key aide of Dawood Ibrahim, is wanted for many criminal cases that include extortion, murder, smuggling, drug trafficking and film finance. He is also wanted in 17 murder cases and several more case of attempt to murder.
He later operated at the behest of Dawood in Mumbai and eventually fled India in 1988. (ANI)
