Anatapur, February 10: A team of CBI officials probing the irregularities of the Obulapuram Mining Company began their field-level enquiries in the mining area in D Herehal mandal today.
Talking to newsmen here today, CBI SP Venkatesh said the team will strive to ascertain the quantity and quality of the iron ore being illegally mined and exported. The team will collect about 100 samples of the iron ore, weighing about 12 kg, at random in the mining area for examination.
Stating that the field-level enquiry will be held for four days, he said the inspection was also aimed to ascertain the approximate quantity of the ore unearthed and the quantity of ore being illegally exported.
To find out the total loss to the exchequer because of the illegal mining by the OMC and others, the team will also arrive at an approximate value of the iron ore mined by the companies, for recovery.
