Hyderabad, January 15:The Central Burerau of Investigation (CBI) has summoned Congress Rajya Sabha Member KVP Ramachandra Rao, close aide of late Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, for questioning in the APIIC-Emaar land scame case.
The investigating agency issued notice to Mr Rao asking him to appear before its officials tomorrow, according CBI sources here today.
Mr Rao was the government advisor when the share of the state-owned Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC) in the township was reduced from 26 per cent to six per cent, causing huge losses to the public exchequer.
There are allegations that Mr Rao played a key role in the decision to reduce the APIIC share.
CBI may question him related to the purchase of a villas in the township in the name of his wife, sources said.
Though a close friend of Rajasekhara Reddy, Rao distanced himself from his son Jaganmohan Reddy when he quit the Congress and floated YSR Congress in 2010.
It is to be mentioned here that the CBI had questioned Jaganmohan Reddy’s aide and YSR Congress party’s spokesman Ambati Rambabu on January 8. Rambabu was APIIC chairman when its equity in the joint venutre wad diluted.
The investigating agency had arrested businessman Koneru Prasad in the case in November last year and it was the only arrest made so far in the case, registered in August last year on the direction of the High Court.
