Hyderabad, June 30: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) today moved a trial court here for a second opinion on the condition of former Satyam Chairman B Ramalinga Raju even as the Magistrate directed the Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) to file by July 1 his latest health update.
CBI Counsel C Surendra filed a memo before the Hyderabad XXI Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate B V L N Chakravarthi for a ‘Second Opinion’ as Mr Raju had not appreared in the Court since September last.
NIMS, in its June 10 health report, had told the court that 56 year-old Raju needed treatment for seven more months for Hepatits-C infection.
CBI insisted on the court to permit it to examine Mr Raju via Video-Conferencing from NIMS to cut the abnormal delay in the Rs 14,000-crore scam case.
Magistrate Chakravarthi directed the NIMS Director for a fresh report by July 1, clarifying whether Raju was fit to be produced before the court under medical care while being treated as an in-patient at NIMS.
