CBI today carried out searches at the residence of retired district judge T V Chalapathi Rao, one of the five persons who had allegedly brokered a multi-crore bribe to CBI judge T Pattabhiram Rao for granting bail to former Karnataka minister Gali Janardhana Reddy.
A team of CBI personnel went to the house of Chalapapathi Rao at Chilakaluripet near here and conducted the
searches, CBI sources in Hyderabad said.
The CBI officials claimed to have found some important documents during the searches though they refused to give
details.
Pattabhirama Rao and Chalapathi Rao were classmates at A C College of Law in Guntur and were selected as Junior Civil
Judges simultaneously, sources here said.
The Andhra Pradesh high court had yesterday suspended Pattabhirama Rao for allegedly taking bribe for granting bail
to mining baron Janardhan Reddy who was arrested last year in illegal mining case allegedly involving Obbulapuram Mining Company owned by him.
Gali Janardhan Reddy is now in a jail in Karnataka in an another case relating to OMC.
CBI is likely to the file chargesheet against five persons in the ‘cash-for-bail’ case on Monday.
