CBI opposes Koneru’s plea for corporate treatment

Hyderabad, January 24 (INN): The Central Bureau of Investigation on Monday filed a counter petition opposing Koneru Prasad’s petition seeking better medical facilities. Koneru, who is presently lodged in the Chanchalguda Central Prison, is the key accused in the APIIC-Emaar scam.

In its counter petition, the probing agency stated that Koneru Prasad has produced old medical reports to seek better medical facilities in corporate hospitals. The CBI said that Koneru could be provided treatment in State Government’s Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences and do not need corporate treatment.

Prasad in his petition stated that he has been suffering from severe back pain for the past three days and the prison authorities could not provide him proper treatment. He pleaded the court to shift him to a super specialty hospital for better medical treatment.

Earlier, Prasad’s bail petition was dismissed by the CBI Special court. He cited ill health as the reason in the bail petition. (INN)
