CBI officer accused of molestation

New Delhi, March 04: A 30-year-old employee of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has alleged she was molested and harassed a senior, police said. A case has been registered against the accused at Lodhi Colony police station after the woman approached seniors.

“We had received a complaint from the office of the CBI director. On the basis of this complaint, we registered a case of molestation and outraging the modesty of a woman,” said HGS Dhaliwal, deputy commissioner of police (south). The complainant said the accused often harassed her at work and made indecent gestures.

The 35-year-old accused, who is working with the CBI’s department of prosecution, was not available for comments. When tried to contact him, his phone was switched off. The woman claimed the accused made her sit in the office for long hours and did not let her leave. She claimed he had been allegedly molesting her for the past four months. “She said the accused molested her in his car while they were on their way to court.

After she was fed up with his remarks, she decided to approach her seniors and lodge a formal complaint,” said a senior police officer. The CBI has ordered an internal enquiry, and a committee that includes a female officer has been set up.

Police said they have not arrested the accused. “We have not arrested him, we are still corroborating the facts,” said the officer.
