CBI not willing to take up Goa’s drug nexus case

Panaji, March 23: CBI today told the High Court that it cannot investigate policemen-drug mafia nexus case due to lack of manpower and constraints of local language.

CBI Superintendent (Special Crime Branch) Pramod Mudbhatkal in the affidavit filed before the Bombay High court in Goa said “the officers of CBI would have constraints of local language, topography etc”.

The official also mentioned that “there is lack of manpower in CBI” as many cases have been referred to it by Supreme Court and other courts.

The High court was hearing the case filed by National Students Union of India (NSUI), Congress? students front, demanding an inquiry by central agencies into drug-police nexus.

CBI argued the local police have better facilities, infrastructure and local language would not be a barrier for them.

Goa police were stunned by two drug nexus cases exposed by the media in last one year.
