New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) may soon examine former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mayawati in connection with alleged swindling of funds in the implementation of National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) scam during her tenure in the state.
According to reports, Mayawati would be questioned as the scam allegedly involving misappropriation of over Rs.10,000 crore took place during her tenure as the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh.
The BSP supremo would also be questioned over her government’s decision to separate the health and family welfare ministries and appoint two chief medical officers in each district for each of the ministries.
The CBI has filed 74 FIRs and 48 chargesheets in the scam while probing the alleged irregularities in the utilisation of the said amount allocated to Uttar Pradesh under this scheme between 2005 and 2011. (ANI)
