CBI, judiciary to deliberate on anti-corruption cases

New Delhi, September 10: The CBI and the judiciary will come together for a two-day brainstorming session starting from September 12 on steps for speedy trail of anti-corruption cases and on methods to improve the presentation and prosecution of cases under the agency.

The ‘National Seminar on Fighting Crimes’ related to Corruption on September 12 and 13 will be inaugurated by Chief Justice of India K G Balakrishnan.

“It is hoped that this academic interaction with strong practical overtones would be one of the biggest held in the recent history. Judges of Supreme Court, High Court of Delhi and distinguished legal luminaries including over 60 Special Judges dealing with anti-corruption cases from the entire country are expected to participate in the Seminar,” a CBI spokesperson said.

The seminar aims to provide a platform for interaction among the functionaries of Criminal Justice System dealing with cases of corruption, he said.

Prosecutors as well as investigators and 100 CBI/State ACB officers are also going to participate in the session.

Among others, the seminar being organised by National Institute of Criminology and Forensic Sciences and CBI will deliberate on facilitating speedy trial of anti-corruption cases, investigation and trial of anti-corruption cases, legal lacunae and other constraints among others, the officer said.

It will also deliberate on appreciating and evaluating electronic evidence, he said adding Union Minister for Law and Justice M Veerappa Moily will address participants and deliver the valedictory address on the concluding day.
