Chief Justice of AP High Court Justice Madan B. Lokur suspended the 1st Additional Special Judge for CBI cases Mr. Pattabhi Rama Rao in connection with alleged corruption charges against him in Obulapuram mining case. He had granted conditional bail to Gali Janardhan Reddy former minister of Karnataka.
CBI claimed to have unveiled the Syndicate’s contacts with mining mafia and the alleged involvement of Gali Janardhan Reddy.
CBI seized crores of rupees from two persons who were said to have been working as intermediary agents.
It was alleged that a few retired judges functioned as brokers in this case and received crores or rupees for getting the conditional bail for Gali Janardhan Reddy. CBI told that it got suspicion when the accused in his petition requested the principal judge to get the petition heard by a particular judge.
Later, the petition was withdrawn. On receiving authentic information, CBI officials searched the bank lockers and seized crores of rupees. It is expected that many more persons will be taken into custody by the CBI very soon.
