CBI files third charge sheet in Jagan’s assets case

The CBI on Monday filed third charge sheet against Kadapa MP and YSR Congress party president Jagan Mohan Reddy in connection with the disproportionate assets case.

According to reports, the 88-page charge sheet contains the statements of 72 witnesses besides having 143 documents. In the charge sheet, the CBI has accused Jagan of conspiring with his father and former Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy to get several favours for certain companies in return for the investments they made in his businesses.

It may be mentioned that in August last year, the CBI has booked cases against Jagan Mohan Reddy and 73 other companies and individuals.

Apart from accused number 1 Jagan Mohan Reddy, the other names figured in the charge sheet include Jagathi Publications vice-chairman Vijay Sai Reddy, Ayodhya Rami Reddy, IAS officer G Venkatrami Reddy, and Ramky Pharma. G Venkat Reddy is presently the district collector of Srikakulam.

The third charge sheet contains details of undue favours granted to a company called Ramky Pharma during YSR’s regime.

In the charge sheet, the CBI mentioned that Venkat Reddy has allotted 1,500 acres of land to Ramky Pharma at Parawada in Visakhapatnam district during his stint as Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority Chairman violating rules and regulations. Ramky Infra has also been accused of depositing Rs 10 crore in the accounts of Jagathi Publications owned by Jagan Mohan Reddy.

The CBI had filed the first charge sheet on March 31, followed by a second one on April 23.
