Questioning the double standards of the CBI by allowing bail to 24 persons, including a minister and senior bureaucrats in service but denying it to YSR Congress Party President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on the grounds that he would influence the witnesses in the disproportionate assets case, its spokesperson Vasireddy Padma alleged the government and the investigation agency will be answerable to this anomaly.
Speaking to newspersons here, she charged while Roads and Buildings Minister Dharmana Prasada Rao and 13 others could just walk away with bail, the CBI did not raise any objection.
All the 14 persons are in the government holding high positions, she pointed. But the CBI has firmly objected to bail for Mr Jagan contending that he would influence the witnesses. This fallacy in argument clearly shows that CBI has an agenda to save many and target YSR family members and friends. Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy was arrested by CBI on the grounds that he was not cooperating with the investigation agency and subsequently changed its stand saying that he would influence the witnesses if granted bail.
The same rule should apply to people who are in the Government but CBI did not object to bail to the 14 people, Ms Padma said. UNI
