Ahmedabad, May 19: An IPS officer and an inspector accused in the Sohrabuddin Shiekh fake encounter case of 2005 have been sent to CBI custody for four days by a local court today.
CBI had sought 14 days custody of N K Amin and V A Rathod, arrested by the previous investigation agency state CID crime, for further questioning in the Sohrabuddin fake encounter case.
Amin was assistant commissioner of police (ACP) city crime branch before being arrested based on statement of a witness involved in the operation of abducting Sohrabuddin and his wife Kausar Bi. While Rathod, a police inspector, is alleged of being involved in disposing of the body of Kausar Bi.
The duo had opposed CBI’s plea saying that remand was unwarranted as they have already been questioned in this regard.
