Hyderabad, February 09: A CBI court convicted a former project director and deputy project director of SARPAD project of National Remote Sensing Agency (NRSA), Hyderabad and four others to imprisonment in a case related to conspiracy and cheating. The convicted are the then project director of SARPAD, K J Hebbar, who was sentenced to two years rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 7,000. Similarly, the then deputy project director, P Madhusudhan Rao was sentenced to three years rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 20,000.
According to a CBI release, the duo along with four private persons entered into a criminal conspiracy in 1995 for providing manpower. The private persons claimed bills without providing manpower and the NRSA officials passed the bills submitted by the four and shared the NRSA funds illegally without deployment of sufficient manpower.
