CBI Court adjourns Mopidevi bail petition hearing to Aug 7

The CBI Special Court on Friday adjourned the hearing on bail petition of former Excise and Prohibition Minister Mopidevi Venkata Ramana Rao to August 7. He is one of the accused in the disproportionate assets case of YSR Congress party president Jagan Mohan Reddy.

While adjourning the hearing on bail petition, the Special Court directed the probing agency to file counter petition in this regard. This is the second bail petition moved by Mopidevi Venkata Ramana Rao in the Special Court. Earlier, the special court has rejected the bail petition of Mopidevi on June 8 following objection raised by the CBI.

While rejecting his bail, the court observed that he had committed a fraud on the council of ministers as one of its members by suppressing his decision to allot 24,000 acres of land for the industrial corridor as part of the VANPIC project in Guntur and Prakasam districts. (INN)
