New Delhi : The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested three railway officials (including a goods guard) in separate cases of bribery relating to alleged recruitment in the Railways.
The CBI has arrested an official working as track man in the office of DRM, Northern Railway, New Delhi for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs.50,000/- from the complainant.
A case was registered on a complaint against the accused working in the office of DRM, Delhi under Section 9 of PC Act, 1988 alleging that he had demanded a bribe of Rs. three lakh from the complainant for getting him recruited in the Railway Workshop as helper.
The CBI laid a trap and caught the accused red handed while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs.50,000 from the complainant. During the course of investigation, role of another Railway official of said office came to light and he was also arrested.
Both the arrested accused were produced before the Special Judge, CBI Cases, Jaipur and remanded to police custody up to 23.03.2016.
In another case, the CBI has arrested a goods guard, South Central Railway, Guntur on the allegations of demanding a bribe of Rs.3.40 lakh from the complainant on pretext of arranging job to him as Assistant Loco Pilot in Railways.
The complainant alleged that the goods guard had contacted him and stated that he was having good contacts with senior railway officials and he could provide a job of Assistant Loco Pilot in Railways to him.
He demanded a bribe of Rs. four lakh for providing job to the complainant. The complainant’s father gave Rs.60,000 by way of cheque as first instalment as demanded and the same was encashed by the accused.
However, he could not arrange the job to the complainant but again demanded remaining bribe of Rs.3,40,000 from the complainant to process the application. The CBI laid a trap and caught the accused red handed while demanding and accepting the bribe of Rs.3,40,000 by way of a cheque from the complainant.
The searches were conducted at the residential premises of Goods Guard at Guntur, which led to recovery of certain incriminating documents. (ANI)
