Mumbai, August 02: Three persons were arrested here by the CBI for allegedly cheating a nationalised bank to the tune of Rs ten crore by producing forged Letters of Credit (LC). Those arrested are Anoop Roy, Director of Krishna Corporate Services Pvt Ltd, Akhilesh Pandey, Proprietor of Meroo Polymers and Satish Pujari, Director of Micro Bit Associates Pvt Ltd, CBI said.
A case was registered on the basis of a complaint from State Bank of India, that the accused persons furnished forged Letter of Credits purportedly issued by Punjab National Bank, Solapur (Maharashtra). “Believing the LCs to be genuine, SBI discounted the forged bills produced by the accused against the LCs and funds were divested or misused by accused,” CBI spokesperson harsh Bhal said.
It is also alleged that the accused persons furnished similar forged LCs and documents to the other banks and either cheated them or were attempting to cheat them, he said. Further investigation is on, the official said.
