CBI arrests senior railway officer for graft

New Delhi: The Senior Divisional Finance Manager of Railways’ Moradabad division was today arrested by CBI from his office for allegedly accepting bribe of Rs one lakh from a tree contractor.

CBI has alleged that a contract was given for chopping down trees in the compound of the DRM office.

After work, Pankaj Kumar, Senior Divisional Finance Manager (an IRAS-2008 Batch), allegedly demanded 10 per cent of the value of work as commission for allowing the wood to be taken away, CBI sources said.

“A case was registered against Senior Divisional Finance Manager, NR, Moradabad on a complaint alleging that the accused was demanding a bribe of Rs One lakh from the complainant in lieu of discharge of official functions,” CBI spokesperson said.

CBI laid a trap and the accused was caught while allegedly accepting Rs one lakh from the complainant, she said.

“The arrested accused will be produced tomorrow in the designated court,” she said.
