CBI arrests RPF officer for taking bribe from vendor

New Delhi: An audio recording done by a small vendor who used to sell packaged drinking water on trains has exposed petty corruption by a Railway Protection Force Sub-Inspector, leading to the officer’s arrest by CBI.

The case is of Pune where Ingale, a sub-inspector of RPF, was allegedly demanding a bribe of Rs 2,000 from the dealer of drinking water bottles for letting his boys sell it on trains.

Munna Ojha, the complainant, had approached CBI with a secret recording of phone conversation with Ingale where the officer was allegedly demanding a bribe of Rs 2,000 to allow Ojha’s boys sell water bottles on trains running between Daund and Pune.

Ojha, in his complaint, had alleged that Ingale had caught one of his boys selling water.

He called Ojha demanding Rs 1,500 per month to be paid to him only then he would allow the sales of water, the complaint alleged.

Ingale allegedly allowed the boy to go after making a demand of Rs 2,000 for previous month and this month.

“CBI laid a trap and caught the Sub-Inspector red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 2,000 from the complainant.

Searches were conducted at the office and residential premises of the accused at Pune which led to recovery of documents relating to property and two bank accounts,” CBI spokesperson R K Gaur said here today.
