Sangareddy, September 26: The problems they are facing currently, financially and otherwise, will not dilute their resolve to fight for a separate Telangana, assert Telangana supporters in Medak district.
“We have been struglling for so long and now is the time we need to stay united for the Telangana cause. We will continue the Sakala Janula Samme indefinitely,” said M Sobhan, a vegetable vendor of Shantinagar.
“The corruption, discrimination and looting which have taken place massively during these 50 years has to come to an end and that can only be achieved by dividing the state,” he added.
Sobhananna has to take care of his wife and four children with the money he makes from selling vegetables. Despite incurring losses in his business, he does not show any sign of annoyance.
He said the RTC strike had a huge impact on his business. As cargo buses are not running, he has to bring vegetables by a threewheeler from Shamshabad and Shankarpally.
“Transportation cost, which used to be `300 from Shamshabad to Sangareddy, has now risen to `1,000 as autorickshaw drivers charge a bomb. Compounding my woes, the number of customers also have significantly dropped,” he bemoaned.
But, he said in the same breath, these problems and losses will last only for a short period of time and sounded confident that a emergence of a separate state was only a matter of time and all their problems would vanish then.
“Our children have to work as attenders, sweepers and cleaners under those (Seemandhra people) who have come here, settled and stolen our jobs. Eighty percent of the people living around Sangareddy are Seemandhra people and they will occupy any place if they are allowed to,” he said
“My grandfather, my father and I have been vegetable vendors throughout. And now, I do not want my kids to be the same. They should have better jobs and not live under anyone’s mercy and that is why I am participating in this agitation,” explained Sobhananna. He lauded T leaders, activists and all those fighting for a separate state and concluded: “Strike is the only way that leads us to the end of our problems and nothing short of a separate Telangana,” he said.
