Cate Blanchett was planning to adopt for years

Melbourne, Nov 22 : Cate Blanchett, who adopted a young girl in March 2015 with husband Andrew Upton, has admitted that the couple is really happy adopting their daughter, Edith Vivian Patricia Upton, as they were planning to adopt a one from almost a decade.

The Oscar-winning actress said in a speech that she and her husband of 17 years were in talks to adopt a child when their first son was born, but then he turned 14 and they had two other children and the thought went off the radar, News.com.au reported.

The ‘Cinderella’ star added that inspite of having three biological children, they still had a lot of space and emotional room in their hearts to have an un-biological child.

Blanchett also clarified that there wasn’t a desire to have a girl necessarily because spirit of the child was more important for them than the gender. (ANI)
