Hyderabad, September 27: The Central Administrative Tribunal on Monday adjourned the hearing on a petition filed by senior IPS officer P Gautam Kumar challenging the appointment of Dinesh Reddy as the Director General of Police to November 3.
The Tribunal adjourned has adjourned the hearing as the Telangana lawyers were boycotting their duties as part of on-going employees’ general strike.
Gautam Kumar had earlier challenged K Aravinda Rao’s appointment as DGP and had got an order in his favour in May this year when CAT quashed Rao’s appointment. But, the state government obtained a stay on CAT verdict from the High Court, allowing Rao to continue as DGP and eventually he retired on June 30, after which Dinesh Reddy took over.
Following the directions of Tribunal, the respondents state Government and Centre have already submitted their counter affidavits.
The State Government in its affidavit said that two cases, one before the Supreme Court and other before the State High Court, pertaining to the same issue are pending. Therefore, the government’s counsel pleaded that the Tribunal wait for the judgments of the Supreme Court and the High Court.
