Cashless system to be extended to all districts of Telangana

Hyderabad: The ‘Cashless Enforcement in Traffic Management’ would be soon extended to all the districts in Telangana, state Director General of Police Anurag Sharma said on Saturday.

The system has been launched in the city already, whereby traffic offenders are asked to pay the fine online or by credit/debit card or other electronic methods, instead of paying on the spot in cash.

“Innovative initiatives in policing have transformed Telangana police into a citizen-friendly force”, Sharma claimed, as he cited example of the ‘reception centres’ at police stations which allow the people to approach the police easily.

The DGP was speaking at the Medak district police headquarters. Earlier in the day, Sharma laid the foundation stone of a firing range at Pydigummal village in the Kohir mandal. He also inaugurated the CCTV command and control system at Medak police headquarters, installed at a cost of Rs 80 lakh, an official release said.

The DGP also said that at present there was 33 per cent reservation for women in the general police appointments and 10 per cent in the armed reserve police appointments.
