The Hyderabad High Court on Monday quashed the petition moved by nominated MLA Elvis Stephenson seeking the judge to rescue himself from hearing a petition filed by J Muthaiah, an accused in the ‘Cash for Vote’ case.
Muthaiah had earlier filed a petition requesting the court to quash the FIR filed by Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau against him in the ‘Cash for Vote’ case. Since the same court had stayed Muthaiah’s arrest by the ACB, Elvis filed a petition asking Justice Shiv Shankar Rao to rescue himself from the case as he alleged that he may not get justice in as the court “seemed to be pre-determined”.
While dismissing the petition Justice Shiv Shankar Rao said he was impartial and nobody can doubt his integrity. Stating that the allegations leveled by Elvis against the High Court amounted to contempt of court, the judge directed the High Court registry to file a criminal contempt of court case against the MLA.
