Cases of mumps and viral fever on rise in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: The number of cases of Residents suffering from mumps and viral fever is reportedly on the rise in Hyderabad. Superintendent of Hyderabad’s Government Fever Hospital, Dr Shankar in an exclusive interview with ANI told that the diseases can be cured with the proper vaccine along with by taking precautionary measures.

Mumps which is a highly contagious disease, caused by a virus that passes from one person to another through saliva, nasal secretions, and close personal contact. The condition primarily affects the salivary glands and its symptoms include fatigue, body aches, headaches, loss of appetite and fever.

On the other hand, viral fever that is also caused by the virus occurs following the common symptoms such as runny nose, sore throat, cough, hoarseness, and muscle aches. Dr Shankar advised people suffering from mumps should be handled carefully and kept isolated and should be given MMR (Measles, Mumps, and Rubella) vaccine.
