Cases booked against cinemas in Hyderabad, raids continue

A total of 88 cases were booked against cinema halls and theatres in greater Hyderabad and HMDA zone, after over 200 complaints were received from consumers against multiplexes. These cases include Big cinema halls like PVR, INOX, Big Cinema, Cinepolis and IMAX.

Since these theatres are failing to follow regulations set forth by the department, the Metrology Department continues to book cases against them. Meanwhile, PVR LTD has already challenged their case.

Justice Ms Ramachandra Rao is set to give a judgment of the same on August 7. Police investigated billing machines, coffee machines and unpackaged eateries to make sure that all items were marked, packed and sold in compliance with the MRP.

The officials are now gearing up for the third round of special checks which is scheduled on 4th and 5th of August. This checks will be across the whole state. Officials have stated that more unannounced checks will be followed, and this will not be the last of the check.
