Case registered against Cong lawmaker in U’khand

Congress MLA Kunwar Pranav Singh Champion today landed in a fresh controversy as a case was lodged against him at a police station here for allegedly abusing a businessman and threatening to kill him.

A case had been registered against Champion under various sections of the IPC on the basis of a complaint lodged
by a local businessman who runs a mobile recharge shop in the city, police said.

Businessman Manohar Jaiswal had accused the lawmaker, who represents Khanpur constituency in the state assembly, of
abusing and threatening to kill him.

In his complaint, Jaiswal said the MLA visited his shop late on Diwali night and ordered him to recharge his phone.

When told the shop had been closed for the day, the MLA got angry and began abusing the shop keeper, the businessman
alleged.

Insisting that his mobile phone needed to be recharged, the MLA, pointing a gun at Jaiswal, threatened to kill him if
he refused to do so, the complaint alleged, according to the police.

A case had been lodged against the legislator on the directive of Dehradun SSP Keval Khurana.

Pranav was in the news recently for opening fire in the middle of a party at a Cabinet minister’s residence in the
city in which two persons were injured.

He had surrendered before the police in connection with the case days after the incident and was granted bail.
