Case filed against Praveen Togadia

After hearing the petition against VHP leader Praveen Togadia for making provocative remarks, the 7th metropolitan Magistrate on Thursday has directed the complainant advocate Ghulam Rabbani to record his statement. The court posted the matter to January 8 for taking a sworn statement of the complainant.

The complainant filed a complaint against Praveen Togadia for his provocative remarks against a particular community during December last year over the Bhagyalakshmi temple row. The complainant alleged that the VHP leader threatened to turn the temple abutting Charminar into Ayodhya if the puja is stopped at the temple.

Ghulam Rabbani had approached the 7th Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate court seeking registration of a case against Togadia under Section 295A (deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings or any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs). The court will record the complainant’s statement on January 8.
