A minor argument over some domestic issue claimed the life of a carpenter while his wife is battling for life in a hospital.
According to Jawahar Nagar police, the deceased, P Hari, was a habitual drunkard. He came to his house on Thursday in inebriated condition and entered into an argument with his wife Padma. He also beat her up. Padma then threatened to commit suicide and poured kerosene on her body. However, Hari snatched the box from her and doused himself with kerosene and set himself ablaze. Before Padma could react, he caught her with both the hands. Consequently, both suffered serious burn injuries. On hearing the screams, neighbours rushed to their rescue and shifted them to the Gandhi Hospital.
Hari succumbed to the burn injuries on Thursday night. Padma is said to be in critical condition. (INN)
