Nine thatched houses were gutted completely at Vepagunta on the city outskirts today in a fire allegedly started by a live cigarette butt. However no casualties were reported, fire brigade sources said. The fire broke out in one of the huts and spread due to the strong wind. Fire brigade officials from Kancharapalem and Sabbavaram rushed to the spot and doused the fire. PTI
