Hyderabad, April 12: Two died and four were injured in two road accidents in the heart of the city on Sunday. A youngster lost his life while three of his family were hurt when the bike they were going on was hit by an unidentified vehicle on the Basheerbagh flyover in the afternoon.
According to police, Mohd Rizwan Khan (23), a resident of Yakutpura, was riding the bike with his mother and two sisters seated behind him when the accident took place.
“It was not sure whether the bike was hit by an RTC bus or a car from behind. He might have also been hit while overtaking, by an oncoming vehicle,” Saifabad police said.
Rizwan, who worked in a mobile store at Abids, died before being shifted to hospital. His mother, Shahjahan, and two sisters, Samreen and Kausar, are undergoing treatment. His father, Riyazuddin, stays in Dubai. It is alleged that the police response was not fast enough and the ambulance too did not reach the spot quickly. Passersby shifted the injured to hospital.
Less than a kilometre from the flyover, another person died when the auto he was in was crushed by a private bus. Police said the auto driver did not stop at the traffic signal leading to the accident.
The deceased, Shoaib Ali Siddiqui (26) from Uttar Pradesh, had been working in a private firm at Khairatabad. He was on his way to the railway reservation complex at Nampally to buy a ticket to his native place. “Auto driver Shoukhat without stopping at the red signal near the Old Police Control Room tried to proceed towards Nampally when a private bus coming from Basheerbagh hit the auto. Shoukhat escaped with minor injuries,’’ police said.
