Cardi B responds to claims about drugging, robbing men to survive

Washington: American rapper Cardi B opened up about the “wrong things” she did in the past in order to make money.

Recently, the Grammy winner broke her silence on the comments she made in an old Instagram Live video.

“I’m seeing on social media that a live I did 3 years ago has popped back up. A live where I talked about things I had to do in my past right or wrong that I felt I needed to do to make a better living,” she began her post.

She continued, “I never claim to be a perfect or come from a perfect world wit a perfect past I always speak my truth I always own my shit.

The 26-year-old star went on to explain that as a “part of hip hop culture,” many artists use their upbringings and struggles to “talk about the wrong things you had to do to get where you are.”

“Im apart of a hip hop culture where you can talk about where you come from talk about the wrong things you had to do to get where you are. There are rappers that glorify murder violence drugs an robbing. Crimes they feel they had to do to survive,” she added.

Talking about how she feels responsible as an artist, she said, “I never glorified the things I brought up in that live I never even put those things in my music because I’m not proud of it and feel a responsibility not to glorify it.”

Cardi added she feels “blessed” to have come out of that situation, but knows that “many women have not.”

“I made the choices that I did at the time because I had very limited options. I was blessed to have been able to rise from that but so many women have not. Whether or not they were poor choices at the time I did what I had to do to survive. The men I spoke about in my life were men that I dated that I was involved with men that were conscious willing and aware. I have a past that I can’t change we all do.”

She captained the post as, “All I can do now is be a better me for myself my family and my future.”

In an Instagram Live Video from three years ago that reappeared online, the rapper can be seen saying she used to drug and rob men. In the recently resurfaced video, the artist also revealed the many ways she “survived” before she made it big, reported E! News.

The resurfaced video has been since receiving backlash. So much so that, the hashtag #SurvivingCardiB is trending on Twitter.

“I had to go strip. I had to go, ‘Oh yeah, you wanna f–k me? Yeah yeah yeah, let’s go back to this hotel.’ And I drugged n—-s up and I robbed them,” she confessed in the footage. “That’s what I used to do. Nothing was muthaf–kin’ handed to me, my n—a. Nothing,” she said in the video at that time.

“I’m a good-hearted person but I have done some f–ked up s–t. Y’all don’t have to worry about it, y’all don’t gotta tell my story,” she added.

Cardi and her husband Offset are proud parents to 8-month-old daughter Kulture Kiari.

On the work front, Cardi is soon going to make her film debut in an upcoming drama titled ‘Hustlers’ alongside Jennifer Lopez, Constance Wu and Lili Reinhart.
