Cardamom futures trade lower on sluggish demand

Continuing its slide, cardamom fell by another 1.31 per cent to Rs 933 per kg in futures trade today due to sluggish demand in the spot market.

Further, ample stocks in the physical markets following higher supplies from the major producing belts weighed on cardamom prices.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for May contract declined by Rs 12.40, or 1.31 per cent, to Rs 933 per kg with a business turnover of 20 lots.

Cardamom for delivery in April fell Rs 10.60, or 1.09 per cent, to Rs 957.20 per kg with trading volume of 235 lots.

Marketmen said, besides profit-taking by speculators at existing prices, fall in demand in spot market also put pressure on cardamom prices at futures market.
