Cardamom futures remain up on rising demand

Cardamom remained firm, with prices gaining another 0.59 per cent to Rs 1,144.80 per kg in futures trade today as speculators enlarged positions, taking positive cues from spot market on rising demand.

Furthermore, tight stocks position in the physical market on restricted supplies from producing belts supported the upside.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in March month moved up by Rs 6.70, or 0.59 per cent to Rs 1,144.80 per kg in business turnover of 381 lots.

Likewise, the spice for delivery in February contracts gained Rs 3.60, or 0.33 per cent to Rs 1,109.50 per kg in 7 lots.

Market analysts said speculators’ enlarged positions on the back of rising demand in the spot market mainly kept cardamom prices higher at futures trade.
