Cardamom futures extend losses, down 1.20% on tepid demand

New delhi: Continuing its falling streak for the third straight day, cardamom prices fell by another 1.20 per cent to Rs 1,466 per kg in futures trade today as speculators engaged in trimming their positions, tracking a weak trend at spot market on muted demand.

Besides, adequate stocks position following increased arrivals from producing regions also weighed on prices.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in February fell by Rs 17.80, or 1.20 per cent to Rs 1,466 per kg in business turnover of 84 lots.

On similar lines, the spice for delivery in March contracts was trading lower by Rs 16.90, or 1.10 per cent to Rs 1,519 per kg in 17 lots.

Analysts said offloading of positions by participants on the back of easing demand in the physical market against ample stocks on pick up in arrivals from producing regions mainly kept cardamom prices lower at futures trade.
