Lucknow, July 20: Uttar Pradesh police have found the Toyata Qualis car that was suspected to be used in the attack on Lucknow residence of UPCC chief Rita Bahuguna Joshi on the night of July 15.
Ms Joshi’s house was vandalised and set on fire by a mob on the night of July 15 after she made some adverse remarks against Chief Minister and BSP supremo Mayawati.
The state government had handed over the probe to CB-CID only yesterday. Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG), Lucknow Prem Prakash told UNI that the car was found abondoned on a hotel premises late last night in the state capital. It belonged to one D P Singh, a political activist and resident of adjacent district of Barabanki. He, however, said it was yet to be ascertained if the car was used during the attack on Bahuguna house.
Congress legislator party leader Pramod Tiwari, meanwhile, has alleged that the car belonged to the ruling BSP leader and was present when the arson took place on the night of July 15. He also pointed out that the police was in no mood to probe the incident without bias and it was the media which located the car.
