CAR rolls out relief to Mahaboobnagar

Hyderabad, October 05: Extending help to flood-affected people of the State, the police dispatched six lorries containing clothes and food material to the neighbouring Mahaboobnagar district on Sunday. The initiative was taken by the officers of City Armed Reserve (CAR) based at Petlaburj in the Old City.

CAR headquarters Deputy Commissioner of Police E Damodar said two lorries transporting used clothes and blankets were collected from donors and dispatched to Mahaboobnagar. Some portion of the relief material was also contributed by the general public. Four more lorries taking food and drinking material were also sent to the flood-affected district.

On an appeal by CAR officials, other police officers and personnel collected money and clothes to arrange the relief material. “Nearly 6,500 food packets, 140 cartons of biscuits, huge amount of bakery items and 1,600 litres of mineral water was dispatched to Mahaboobnagar,” Damodar informed. The police received an immediate response from the general public when it asked for help. The relief material, however, could not be sent to Kurnool district as the road link to the district has been cut off.

A control room has been started to accept donations and people can contact 040-2785-4718 to donate anything.
