Shillong, August 16: An Indian villager, who was held captive by BDR since June 28, was today handed over to BSF in the international border in Meghalaya.
Indian villagers were cultivating on an India-held adverse possession land at Rongkhon in Meghalaya’s Jaintia Hills district when a group of Bangladeshis confronted them and later dragged away one of the farmers, identified as Dimmy Dahar (21), into Bangladesh and handed him to BDR, officials said.
Dimmy, son of the village headman, was held captive at Shreepur outpost of BDR, BSF officials said.
He was charged by BDR with “illegal intrusion”, Dimmy told BSF upon his hand over.
