Capital Tops in Crime Rate in state

Hyderabad, August 13: The capital of the State –Hyderabad- stood in top position in crime including immolation of women, in the first six months of this year. In all 86,874 various types of cases have been registered in the first half of this year.

According to the half yearly crime report of the police department, Hyderabad stood in first place in murders by registering 173 murder cases, out of the total cases of 1,288 murders in the State during the last six months. Mahaboobnagar stood in second place in murders with 144 cases and Guntur in third place with 143 cases. Out of 16,616 theft cases registered in the last six months, 10,420 were from the capital.

Out of 720 rape cases filed in the last six months, 72 were from Hyderabad, accounting for 10 percent of the cases. In the state, 48 burglaries were registered in the first half of 2010, as against a total of 2,351 cases in 2009.

As many as 289 dacoit cases, 16,616 theft cases, 972 kidnaps, 4164 cheating cases and 108 fake currency cases were registered in the first half of 2010. In all, 1,476 SC, ST Atrocities cases were registered in the State in the first six months of this year. Highest number cases under sections of SC, ST Atrocities Act were registered in Kurnool district is in the first half of 2010.

As far as crime against women is concerned, till End of June this year, 75 dowry killings, 277 deaths due to dowry harassment, 639 suicides due to dowry harassments, 364 murders of women,

710 rape cases, 758 kidnaps and 222 cases of multiple wives cases were registered in the state.
