Vizianagaram, February 17: Telugu Desam Party Polit Bureau member and MLA P. Ashok Gajapathi Raju has called upon party cadre and leaders in the three North Andhra districts to canvass in favour of Tumula Bhaskara Rao, party nominee for MLC (Graduates Constituency).
Speaking at the general body meeting of the party on Wednesday, Mr. Ashok said as it was impossible for the contesting candidate to meet all the 1.60 lakh voters in the three districts (from Itchapuram in Srikakulam district to Payakaraopeta in Visakhapatnam district) and seek their support, it was the responsibility of all cadre and leaders to campaign vigorously for his victory.
Saying that in spite of severe problems haunting people of the state there was no change in Congress governance during the last seven years, he demanded that the government release of grants for fee reimbursement of students and appealed to party men to support students’ cause. He criticised the state government for not even able to hold elections to local bodies.
Kolla Lalitha Kumari, MLA and district party president, alleged irregularities in payment of compensation to rain-hit farmers and demanded the administration to rectify them.
