Chennai, January 12: Under fire from opposition over ‘skyrocketing’ prices of essential commodities, UPA’s leading partner DMK today likened the price rise to natural calamities, saying nobody can be blamed for it.
‘Whom can we blame for natural disasters like earthquake and floods…In the same way, we cannot pin the blame on anybody in particular for the price rise situation,” Finance Minister K Anbazhagan told the state Assembly.
He was responding to CPI (M) Floor Leader K Balabarathy who accused the UPA Government at the Centre and the DMK regime of doing little to control the ”sky-rocketing” prices.
Opposition members alleged that the current price rise was being spurred by future trading in many essential commodities.
