New Delhi: At a time when Maharashtra’s Latur district is suffering from acute water crisis, the Supreme Court on Wednesday pulled up the Centre and said that it cannot turn a blind eye towards the drought-hit states of the country.
The apex court’s observation came after it heard a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by NGO Swaraj Abhiyan.
The NGO sought the apex court’s intervention to ensure adequate relief for drought-affected regions.
At present, nine states in the nation are suffering from acute water crisis. (ANI)
