Candidates in Kashmir demanded extension in Assignment and Form submission through IGNOU.

By Beigh Irsha S rinagar 1, April 2015||Candidates pursuing different degrees and diploma courses from Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), Regional Centre, Srinagar have appealed varsity higher ups to extend the date for their submission of assignments and term end examination forms in view of the inclement weather across kashmir Valley.
They said their exams are scheduled to be held in June and the last date for submission of assignments was 31 of March but they couldn’t reached to the study center as there were heavy rainfall.
Hundreds of students who came from different far flung areas also blamed that they were mentally tortured at study center.
“I travelled atleast 70 km’s to submit my assignments in SP college and I was asked to change the file covers which were transparent after waiting for 2 hours in a Queue” a girl student told Valley Online.
“In that chill and cold I roamed whole lalchowk for file covers as they (shopkeepers) were busy to shift their stock to safer places, and that was neither a rule nor a norm” she added.
Due to bad weather and inaccessiblity to the concerned Study centres thousands of candidates registered at IGNOU’s Regional Centre Srinagar, couldn’t submit their forms, and assignments.
“We appeal to Regional Director IGNOU, Srinagar to kindly extend the date of submission of forms, as well as assignments so that we may not loss our academic year,” a group of students told Valley Online.
Earlier, scores of students from different areas of the Valley were seen lining up at the various centers, urging the coordinators to accept their documents. However due to bad weather, and continuous rainfall hundreds left without submitting the assignments.
Students also complained that due to inclement weather and incessant rains they got less time to submit exam form.
They have appealed Education Minister for state Nayeen Akhter to intervene and discuss the issue with IGNOU authorities so that the bright career of thousands of candidates can be saved.
