Candidate complains to EC against Jagan

Hyderabad, April 16: Sheikh Akber Mahaboob Basha, a contestant from the Kadapa LS constituency, on Friday lodged a complaint with the Election Commission against Kadapa former MP YS Jaganmohan Reddy accusing him of illegally using the name of YSR Congress Party, which is owned by Basha.

According to Basha, he was the first to apply to the Election Commission for registration of a party in the name of YSR Congress Party.

Meanwhile, Shiva Kumar of Nalgonda founded Yuvajana Shramika Rythu Congress Party and got it registered with the Election Commission.

“As Jaganmohan Reddy managed to take over Yuvajana Shramika Rythu Congress Party from its founder Shiva Kumar, he might be entitled to use the name of Yuvajana Shramika Rythu Congress party. But he cannot use the abbreviation of it which turns out to be the name of my party,” he contended.

Basha claimed that a court case was pending on the issue and demanded to know how the Election Commission accepted Shiva Kumar’s move to transfer the party registered in his name to Jaganmohan Reddy.
