Cancellation of Muslims quota deplored

Mr. Mohammed Sirajuddin, Chairman, Minorities Department of AP Congress Committee expressed his concern on the cancellation of reservations for the Muslims by AP High Court. He requested the Govt. to file an appeal in the Court.

He welcomed the announcement of Mr. Salman Khsurshid to challenge the judgment of AP High Court in Supreme Court. He alleged that BJP and other communal organizations want to deprive the Muslims from the benefits of reservations.

By doing so, these organizations are not only harming the Muslims but they are also damaging the entire nation. So long as an opportunity is not provided to the Muslims to go hand and hand with the other communities, the dream of the developing the country won’t be fulfilled.

He clarified that Govt. of India didn’t give 4.5% reservation to the Muslims on the basis of religion but it was given based on their poverty. This reservation was provided after taking into consideration the reports of Sachar Committee, Ranganath Mishra Commission and Mandal Commission.

The progress of the Muslims is not being digested by the Muslim hostile BJP. He told that he is consulting the legal experts in this regard and very soon an appeal will be submitted in AP High Court for the cancellation of this judgment. He pointed out that if a Hindu Washerman can get reservation why can’t the Muslim Washerman get the same benefit. If we meet with disappointment in AP High Court, we will not hesitate in approaching the Supreme Court.
