Mr. Mohammed Iftekharuddin Ahmed Advocate, President of Muslim Reservation Front told that it is the most unfortunate that AP High Court has struck down the Reservations for the Muslims. He told that Govt. of India failed to produce effective arguments in support of Muslim reservations.
He said that Govt. of India took hasty decision to provide 4.5% reservation to Minorities out of the already existing reservation of 27% provided for other Backward classes. In this connection, Govt. of India did not take into consideration the legal implications and took a hasty decision.
Ranganath Mishra Commission had recommended 10% reservation to the Muslims and 5% for other Backward classes. The commission had clearly suggested to include Dalith Muslims and Dalith Christians in OBC list by amending the constitution of India.
It clearly indicates that Govt. of India is hurting the feelings of the Muslims. Although Mishra commission submitted its report a year back to the Govt. but it has not been presented in the Parliament.
AP Muslim Reservation Front demanded the Govt. of AP and Central Govt. to include all the 14 groups of Backward Muslims into the central list of OBC’s This recommendation should be forwarded to the commissioner for religious and linguistic Minorities.
They also demanded the Govt. to table Rangnath Mishra Committee Reports in the Parliament and also to implement 10% reservation scheme for the benefit of several Muslim candidates.
